£12,236 (£235 per week)
Increments of approx. £1,200 every 6 months (based on performance)
To increase to £24,459 (£470 per week)

The Scheme:


To become a Trainee Maintenance Technician it is a 5-year scheme that has been developed in conjunction with NAC and Local College. It combines both practical and theoretical skills. You will gain a valuable insight into all aspects of automotive and manufacturing maintenance. You'll also acquire the skills and knowledge required to work as a member of the team responsible for maintaining the production facilities here at NMUK.

In your first year of your Trainee Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship, you'll complete off-the-job training at Local College. The remaining 4 years will be spent both on day release at College and full-time at our Sunderland plant. You will have the opportunity to work with the most up-to-date manufacturing equipment in the industry.

What you'll achieve at the end of your Trainee Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship:


Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Level 2)
Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Level 3)
Diploma in Manufacturing and Engineering Mechatronics Maintenance Technician (Level 3)
HNC in Engineering
Nissan in-house training courses

Who can apply for the Apprenticeship


You'll need at least 4 GCSEs:

Maths (Grade A or B)
English Language (Grade C or above)
Science-based subject (Grade C or above)
One other subject (Grade C or above), or equivalent

You'll also need to be willing to learn and happy working as part of a team. Flexible and a good time keeper, you must be aged over 16 at the start of the apprenticeship.
