To become a Maintenance Technician it is a 5-year scheme that has been developed in conjunction with NAC and Local College. It combines both practical and theoretical skills. You will gain a valuable insight into all aspects of automotive tooling manufacture, tool maintenance, machining and CADCAM.
You'll also acquire the skills and knowledge required to work as a member of the team responsible for maintaining the production facilities and Automotive tooling here at NMUK.
In your first year of your Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship, you'll complete off-the-job training at Local College. The remaining 4 years will be spent both on day release at College and full-time at our Sunderland plant.
You will have the opportunity to work with the most up-to-date manufacturing equipment and tooling in the industry.
What you'll achieve at the end of your Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship:
Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Level 2)
Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Level 3)
Diploma in Manufacturing and Engineering Mechatronics Maintenance Technician (Level 3)
Foundation Degree in Engineering
Nissan in-house training courses

Who can apply for the Apprenticeship
You'll need at least 4 GCSEs:
Mathematics (Grade A/B or 6+)
English Language (grade A-C or 4+)
Science based subject (Grade A-C or 4+)
One other subject (Grade A-C or 4+)
You'll also need to be willing to learn and happy working as part of a team. Flexible and a good time keeper, you must be aged over 16 at the start of the apprenticeship.
