The Scheme:

The Trainee Information Technology Assistants apprenticeship it is a 3-year scheme that provides nationally-recognised training, with industry recognised qualifications that will test your theoretical and practical skills. Developed in conjunction with NAC and a local college, it combines theoretical and practical skills. You will become part of a diverse team that delivers “Information Systems” (IS) and “Information Technology” (IT) services to multiple sites within Nissan Europe. During your Trainee Information Technology Assistants Apprenticeship you will combine off-the-job training at a local college with on-the-job training at our Nissan Sunderland plant, you will gain a valuable insight into how IS/IT support the effective running of Nissan’s business operations, including manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, finance and sales.

What you'll achieve at the end of it:

Certificate in IT (Networking) (level 3)

National Certificate in Computing and Systems Development (level 4)

Higher National Diploma in Computing and Systems Development (level 5)

After completing the Apprenticeship, there’s also a chance to take it further – and start a BSc (Hons) in Applied Computing.

Who can apply for the Trainee Information Technology Assistants Apprenticeship

You'll need at least 5 GCSEs including:

English Language and Mathematics (grades A or B)

One science subject, one other subject and preferably an ICT GCSE Grade A-C

Extremely organised, you’ll also need good typing skills, effective verbal and written communication and a structured approach to problem solving.  Willing to learn and happy to work as part of a team, you will also be flexible and a good time keeper. Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite would also be an advantage. You’ll also be aged between 16 and 22 at the start of the apprenticeship.
