Machining and Tooling Maintenance Technician Apprentice

This 5-year Maintenance Technician scheme has been developed in conjunction with local colleges such as NA College.

Combining both practical and theoretical skills, you will gain valuable insight into all aspects of automotive tooling manufacture, tool maintenance, machining and CADCAM. (DIE Maintenance – tool maker/machinist).  You will have the opportunity to work with the most up-to-date manufacturing equipment and tooling in the industry.

You’ll also acquire the skills and knowledge required to work as a member of the team responsible for maintaining the production facilities and automotive tooling here at Nissan Sunderland.

In the first year of your apprenticeship you will be given full off-the-job training within a college environment.  The next 4 years will be a combination of working on plant at Nissan and day-release training at college.

What you’ll achieve at the end of your apprenticeship:

  • Mechatronics: L2 Diploma -Advance Manufacturing and Engineering (Foundation Competence)
  • Mechatronics: L3 Diploma  – Advanced Manufacturing Engineering – Mechatronics Maintenance Technician  (Development  Competence)
  • Mechatronics L3 Diploma  – Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
    Foundation degree in Engineering*
    Nissan in-house training

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

Entry requirements – 4 GCSE grades or equivalent (achieved or predicted)

  • Mathematics (Grade A/B or 6+)
  • English Language (Grade A-C or 4+)
  • Science-based subject (Grade A-C or 4+)
  • One other subject (Grade A-C or 4+)​

Salary of £13,236 increased every six months (based on performance) to a maximum of £31,368
