Paint pathway
As a Paint Sprayer, you’ll work in the Paint Shop or on the Final Line learning the key paint principles you’ll need to become a competent painter working to the highest quality standards.
Panel pathway
As a Panel Repairer, you’ll be reacting to quality concerns across the plant to maintain vehicle quality and repair standards.
Paint Spraying and Panel Repair are two separate apprenticeships but through our recruitment process your application will be considered for both schemes.
On reaching the interview stage, you will be asked to state your preference and we will use this along with competencies demonstrated at each stage to allocate candidates to both schemes
Apprenticeship overview:
Special Skills is a two-year scheme, that’s been specially developed by Nissan in conjunction with a local college which combines theoretical and practical skills. You will gain valuable insight into all aspects of your chosen specialism. You’ll also acquire the skills and knowledge you’ll need to work as a key member of our Special Skills teams here at Nissan.
You’ll work full-time across the two years, spending one day per week on day release at college, and four days at the plant where you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge whilst building your experience in a world class production environment.
Entry requirements – 4 GCSEs or equivalent
OR
You will be requested to provide copies of your certificates before you start the apprenticeship – if your grades are predicted we will ask for certificates once you have your exam results.

Applicants must be 16 or over at the start of the apprenticeship. The recruitment process is carried out at Nissan Sunderland Plant SR5 3NS and you must be prepared to attend assessments as required.
Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK and proof will be requested during the selection process.
