Life in Trim & Chassis

An atmosphere like no other, based on a culture of continuous improvement

Trim & Chassis is where you’ll get to see vehicles like the Juke, Qashqai and LEAF come together. It’s an exhilarating place to be, where hard work goes together with an unbeatable sense of camaraderie. Make no mistake, the pace is fast and you’ll face new and exciting challenges every single day – but always with the support of your team.

Trim & Chassis Manufacturing Staff

“Nissan is a job for life. It has already been in the North East for more than 30 years and the future looks full of opportunity, with investment in programmes such as EV36zero and electrified vehicles.”

A local lad, Chris knew Nissan had a reputation as the place to be for a secure career and when he left school an apprenticeship seemed like a solid choice. He quickly realised the opportunities available for progression and development and asked his supervisor for support to reach his goals. He’s now completed several courses, including a leadership AIMS course that saw him completing off-site team building activities alongside senior management and company directors. His next step is to make it as a Team Leader but that certainly won’t be the end of his Nissan journey – Chris sees this as a career for life.

Be Part of the Team

Your responsibilities will be dependent on the section of Trim & Chassis to which you are

assigned, but include things like fitting parts to the painted body shell or trimmed body, processing the car through various assembly stations within the shop, inspecting and processing finished vehicles, parts kitting and sequence and quality checks. There will also be opportunities for you to suggest ideas and improvements to our process, an essential part of our ethos of continuous improvement.

Enjoy Working with Others

The sense of team spirit is everywhere in our Trim & Chassis department.  A real sense of solidarity and social spirit is part of the team culture, an important part of enjoying the working day.

Joining us as a manufacturing employee in T&C gives you the opportunity to develop skills in Lean Manufacturing techniques and Workshop Controls, as well as increasing your own personal dexterity while fitting key parts to the car. These skills go hand-in-hand with automation in the shop, which ultimately gives you a finished car ready for the customer.
