A full plant tour gives you the chance to go behind the scenes to see how it’s done, and see the UK’s best selling car of 2022, the Qashqai, in production.
See it all, from parts being made into shape in Press Shop, to our fully-electrified line-up of the Qashqai e-Power, Juke Hybrid and all-electric LEAF rolling off Final Assembly Line.
It’s here at Nissan Sunderland that the first Nissan Bluebird for commercial sale rolled off the line in 1986, and it is here that we are driving forward Nissan EV36Zero, a £1 billion project to create the world’s first electric vehicle manufacturing hub. Since the start of production Nissan Sunderland have built over 11 million cars, the fastest UK car manufacturer to achieve this milestone and meaning a car has rolled off the line every two minutes since 1986.
With over 6,000 employees across a 362,000 square metre site of world-leading manufacturing excellence, there is a lot to discover and learn at Nissan Sunderland.

In Press Shop you will see the aluminium and steel coils waiting to enter one of our fully-automated, high-tonnage press lines. We use 50 coils per day, weighing 512 tons.
Our presses range from 2,700 tons to 5,200 tons. Experience getting up close to our largest press, to see how the panels for our vehicles are made
into perfect shape.
See how our skilled workers assemble the body panels of our vehicles from Press Shop, using 1,200 robots. Our state-of-the-art robots are programmed to complete 90% of the work.
At Final Assembly Line our world-class manufacturing staff fit just under 3,000 parts to each vehicle. You will see how our quality inspectors fully test the vehicles as they roll off the line ready for dispatch to our customers around the world.
