Application Stage

Online Application

First you will need to submit your CV and covering letter via an online application.

Please note – You must be in a position to prove your right to live and work in the UK. You will be asked to bring evidence of this if invited to final interview.

Application Review

Our recruitment team will then review the characteristics and experience you have outlined in your CV and covering letter to compare your against the required criteria for that role.

If you are successful at this stage then we will invite you to attend a practical skills test.

INTERVIEW STAGES

Practical Skills Test
If you are successful at your initial application stage, you will then be given a choice of either a mechanical or electrical skills assessment. We will contact you by email or telephone to arrange a suitable date and time and we will then send you a confirmation email. The tests consist of a set of basic tasks that are designed to access your basic electrical or mechanical competency. The test is then scored using our set criteria and you simply need to achieve a certain score to pass this test and move onto the next stage. We need to assess your basic competency as a basis for future training if you are successful with your application. The tests are usually carried out on a one to one basis but occasionally we have two candidates present at the same time. There is no need to dress formally for this, just dress in clothing you are comfortable working in.
Interview
Congratulations if you passed your skills assessment and have been invited for interview. During this interview we will discuss your career history, experience, the types of equipment you have worked on and the type of environments you have gained experience in. We will also ask you a set of competency questions requiring specific examples from your career to date. Our aim of the interview is to gain a better understanding of your skill set and to determine where you will best fit into the Maintenance department here at NMUK.
Department Allocation
If you successfully pass all stages, your full candidate profile will be compiled and then distributed to the Maintenance Senior group. They will review headcount and skill requirement across the maintenance department and you will be allocated to a particular area of the business depending on departmental requirements and your specific skillset. We always try to find the best fit for every candidate to enable them to reach their full potential.
Final Interview & Medical
Congratulations! You are almost there in joining the team here at NMUK. You will meet the Maintenance Supervisors and visit your new department. With all being well, you will then receive a formal job offer from us, in which we will take you through your contract and answer any final questions you may have. You will also have a medical here at NMUK, which should take approximately 1hr. You should just dress in comfortable clothing. The medical is standard format – questionnaire on medical history and any health problems followed by eye test, hearing test, etc. So, welcome to the team! Please note – at this stage, you will be required to bring proof of your right to live and work in the UK.
