Engineering is a key function offering a full spectrum of roles covering Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Automotive, Chemical, and Civil Engineering. We combine practical engineering with project coordination using cross-functional teamwork. Truly embedded into the production process, engineers enjoy a mixture of desk based work such as CAD & specification writing alongside real-world activities such as line trials and equipment buy off. We continually question methods, seek areas to improve and identify creative alternatives.

Overview – dept: We are Nissan’s technology division. We partner with our business units to solve their problems with technology solutions. Our region is vast in terms of geographical spread – AMEIO – Africa, Middle East, India, Europe and Oceania; and in terms of business units – huge logistics operations, ordering and shipping parts to our plants, production scheduling and manufacturing, transportation of cars across the region to our dealer networks are some highlights of what we do. Department overview: Nissan Sunderland Plant is capable of manufacturing over 500,000 cars per year. The Supply Chain Management team ensures that global supply in to the UK is as cost effective and efficient as possible. Without the SCM team, cars could not be built. It is a complex, multi-dimensional operation covering logistics, inventory control, project management and supplier management. The Supply Chain Management team are an integral part of Nissan; responsible for getting the right parts and vehicles, to the right place, at the right time and at the right cost. There are a variety of roles available within the SCM function: •PARTS CONTROL manage the inbound supply of components from a global supply base whilst maintaining lean inventory levels. •DESIGN CHANGE CONTROL work as an interface between the Design team and the manufacturing plant to ensure the smooth introduction of material changes. •PRODUCTION PLANNING work with internal production shops to schedule their production, and interface with the Sales & Marketing team to understand customer demand. •INBOUND LOGISTICS liaise with logistics providers to design and engineer innovative and cost-effective global logistics solutions. •OUTBOUND LOGISTICS are responsible for the delivery of vehicles from all production sources to final dealer locations across international overseas markets.

Throughout your role, you will learn about the vast variety of functions within Purchasing and will be allocated your own area of responsibility from the following: Line Parts, Facilities & Site Services, Aftersales, Vendor Tooling, Purchase Project Management, Purchase Planning & Co-ordination, Supplier Quality Development and Total Delivered Cost Our Cranfield facility, European Technical Centre (NTCE), serves as the head office for Nissan’s Research & Development operations in Europe. In Sunderland, our production facility (NMUK) is the home to iconic models such as Qashqai, Juke & Leaf and the recently announced EV36Euro Electric Vehicle (EV) Hub.
