Life as a Press Shop Maintenance Technician

We’ve invested more than £200 million in our Press Shop over the last three years – now it’s time for us to invest in you

The well-respected Press Shop is the first shop in our manufacturing process, where the outer and inner body panels of the vehicle are pressed. This important stage requires experienced technicians able to problem solve and implement counter measures while working in close-knit and cross-functional teams.

DAN

Supervisor

“I started my Nissan journey as an apprentice, now I’m on the path to Senior Supervisor. You get a plan and a path at Nissan.”

Dan had a desire to progress early in his career, and Nissan made sure he was supported through this. He was given a clear map of where his career could go and when – and received the training and mentoring he needed to get there.

The Press Shop is made up of eight press lines, three trial presses, three blanking lines and 28 cranes. With all that specialist equipment, it takes an experienced and highly-skilled maintenance team to keep everything running smoothly.

Ongoing Investment

This shop has seen a £200+ million investment over the last three years, so Maintenance Technicians based in this area get to work on the latest advances in new equipment. That includes our innovative steel and aluminium cyclone recycling systems, part of our mission to achieve carbon neutrality across our organisation by 2050.

Close-knit, Collaborative Teams

Working in press means you get to collaborate with a team of experts across external contractors, engineering, manufacturing and maintenance – both here in the UK and internationally – all working together with specialist skills to keep Nissan at the future of mobility and electrified transportation.

Our Process in Press Shop

Blanking lines
Raw material is uncoiled and sheared to size/shape creating “blanks”

These blanks are stacked and delivered to press lines in sequence
